Hola :) Hoy por la mañana hemos estado haciendo algunas fotos del Barrio de Malasaña, en el centro de Madrid. El barrio debe su nombre a Manuela Malasaña, una madrileña que demostró el orgullo que sentía hacia su ciudad y hacia toda España, luchando con sus tijeras de costurera contra los franceses que querían hacerse con la capital. Fue arrestada y ajusticiada, pero su espíritu nacional es algo digno de ser recordado. Así mismo, encontramos la Plaza del 2 de Mayo guardada por las estatuas de Daoíz y Velarde, siendo el pleno corazón latente de Malasaña. También hay otras de las pequeñas callejuelas por las que tanto me gusta perderme (y enamorarme de sus edificios). Disfrutad las fotos ;)
Hello :) Today morning we've been taking some pictures from Malasaña Quarter, placed on Madrid's downtown zone. The neighbourhood name is due to Manuela Malasaña, a woman from Madrid that showed how pride she was of her city and of all Spain, fighting with her seamstress scissors against the french, who wanted to gain the city. She was arrested and executed, but her nacional spirit is something worth remembering. Likewise, we found 2 de Mayo Square, kept by Daoíz and Velarde statues, becoming Malasaña's heart. There are also some other pics from little streets where I love to get lost (and fall in love with the buildings). Enjoy the pics ;)
